WWII US 6th ARMY UNIFORM

This is a US 6th Army Officer uniform. In very good condition. Bears the patch of the 6th army as well as officer stripes in the sleeves. Like many other officer uniforms, this was tailor made. The tags are still present. Scallop pockets. This style of jacket was worn with the "pinks" (pants).

With golden metal buttons. A larger size of the buttons was used to close the coat. While a smaller version was employed in the pocket flaps. Once the pockets were closed the buttons remained visible.

The sixth Army patch was activated in 1943 in Houston, Texas. The unit was deployed in the South Pacific theater under the name of "Task Force Alamo".

The tag shown in the photo below indicates that the uniform was manufactured by a tailor, instead of being mass produced in some factory. Officers had the prerogative to take this action.
