WWII US ARMY AIR FORCE - 7TH - UNIFORM
This is a 7th US Army Air Force uniform. Of wool construction. Four pocket design. Flaps are
provided to secure the pockets shut. The uniform has a tag in one of the lower pockets. The
tag provides alot of invaluable information to a collector. It covers things such as date of
manufacture, manufacturer's name, color, material, contract number, and more.
With gold metal buttons.
This is an older uniform. One of its unique characteristics is the way in which the butons are attached. Instead of being sewn in, they are
attached via metal rings. A technique very characteristic of WWI and older uniforms.
The buttons are not sewn in. They are attached by using a ring which goes through the back of the
button. This was a common way to secure the buttons in the earlier years, from the Spanish American
war to eraly WWII.
Notice that a hole is made in the uniform and is lined with a metal flat ring.
This allows the back of the button to go through.
The patch is an earlier version of the Army Air Force symbol. Of heavy wool construction. Some
damage cause by moths can be seen. This is a common problem with patches constructed of this
material.
