WWII US ARMY FEMALE TUNIC
Of herringbone construction. Thirteen star metal buttons painted black. With two pockets
in the chest area. The placement of the pockets was changed in later years. This uniform
was issued to female troops enlisted in the US Army during WWII.
The shoulder has epilets which are secured on one end by a set of brown plastic buttons.
A side pocket is provided where pens and other small accessories can be placed. The rank of the
person is stamped in black ink here. It is interesting to note that the rank is that employed by
the Air Force - It is very likely that the shirt was re-issued at a later date. It is common for
WWII equipment to be reissued for later wars. Usually as late as the Vietnam War.
Another common action was the stamping of the name or serial number on the inside of the uniform. This
was usually done with black ink.
