WWII US ARMY AIR FORCE - CIB - UNIFORM
This is a US Army Air Forces Officer's dress uniform. Summer weight. Four pocket construction.
with golden, metal buttons. Manufactured from cotton. The cuffs show the officer bands. the
pockets can be closed shut using the buttons, which are exposed when the pockets are closed.
The pants are constructed of matching material. With small, brown plastic buttons.
The owner of the uniform was stationed in the China Burma India (CIB) theater. The Army Air
Corps held multiple operations in that area throught the war. The lighter, Khaki color was
favored in the Pacific theater, while the dark green color was used in the European theater.
The shoulder shows an earlier version of the Army Air Corps insignia. Of wool construction with
metal embroidery. This is a very interesting patch. Moths have done some damage to it. this is
a common occurance for any WWII wool item.
The other shoulder bears the CIB patch. Of cotton construction with metal embroidery. This is an
earlier version of the patch. Later samples are all made of cotton with no embroidery present at all.
This is also known as the CIB patch.
The shoulder area has a Major's insignia. Of metal construction. Affixed to the uniform via the
use of a pin, which is typical construction for WWII.
The uniform is further complimented by the use of a hollowed "US" symbol. The person was jumped
qualified so it uses the Ariborne wings over a red oval - Indicating artillery.
