US AIR FORCE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL -
This medal is awarded to enlisted personnel who excel in behavior,fidelity and efficiency. A distinctive
clasp is given for each successive period of three years' service which meets
these requirements. Instituted in 1963. Prior to the development of this medal
the Air Force employed the Army Good Conduct medal.
The madal was awarded to enlisted personnel upon recommendation of the unit
commander. The amount of time required is 3 years of service. However, in rare
occassions and under combat situations, it was possible to receive the medal
after 1 year of service.
The front of the medal bears the inscription "Efficiency, Honor, Fidelity"
surrounding the American eagle. The back has a five pointed star with a scroll
where the name of the recepient could be inscribed. The medal featured here
does not have any inscriptions.
