US ARMED FORCES BRONZE STAR MEDAL -
This is a Bronze Star medal. As used by the US Armed Forces. Instituted in
1944 but retroactive to 1941. The requirements to receive this award are
to display heroic actions during combat. Not involving an arial fight.
All branches of service were eligible to receive this award.
When awarded for bravery, it is the fourth-highest combat award of the U.S. Armed Forces and the
ninth highest military award (including both combat and non-combat awards) in the order of precedence
of U.S. military decorations. Officers from the other federal uniformed services are also eligible
to receive the award if they are militarized or detailed to serve with a service branch of the armed
forces.
The back of the medal has a pin back to secure it to the uniform. The
words "Heroic or Meritorious Achievement" are writen around the center.
