This is a US Army officer's hat insignia. As issued during WWII. The eagle is cut-out and has
no background. The eagle is secured to the hat via the use of clutches. Earlier designs were
secured via the use of a pin.
Some of the eagles are marked with "Sterling" in addition to tne maker's name. However, in some
instances there were no markings at all.
This is a US Army Enlisted man hat insignia. The eagle is resting
against a circular shape made of metal. A circular screw back goes
into a post to secure the emblem to the hat.
