Vietnam War 9th Division belt buckle
The United States armed forces did not have a large selection of belt buckles during the Vietnam
war. The basic design was very plain a simple. It originated in WWII. The design consisted of two
metal plates attached together, leaving space in the center where a roun bar is placed. As the canvis
belt was insereted into the buckle, the bar was moved up or down to pinch the material, therefore holding
the adjustment in place.
The item featured here is a customized standard belt buckle. Produced during the Vietnam war. It was not
common for items like this to be manufactured for their units. The mechanism works the same but the front
design is quite elaborate. It has a coiled dragon in the center.
