WWII US Army M-1943 Field Jacket - When the United States entered World War Two much of the military was unprepared for combat. The unforms and equipment employed was very antiquated, most of it dated back to World War one. The US Army saw the need to develop a sturdy jacket for combat. Its forst attempt saw the development of the M-1941 jacket, which was not very successful. The M-1943 came next. This was a much better design. It was made of Lightweight canvis material.

Four pocket construction. OD color. Brown plastic buttons close the front of the jacket. The shoulder has epilets secured by the same type of buttons. The original white tag with black letters remains in place.

The American tunics held a variety of patches and insignia in the left and right arms. Also in the breast area.
