The Germans manufactured several types of flight clasps. In addition, each type had a series of variations. Another interesting aspect of this badge was that devices could be added to the bottom of the badge. They were used to indicate things such as the number of missions flown, specialized training received, etc.

It is not known how many devices were created in total.

The catch of the flying clasp is of thick type. The hinge is of square type. Both are of heavy duty construction.
