WWII German Stickpin - Performance and Championship NSRL Bronze Badge -
This is a German WWII stick pin. These items were issued to military, civilian and political individuals for various reasons. In the case of military personnel, a stickpin was given along with a full size award. The soldier could wear the stick pin instead of having to sport the full size badge.

The chief for the National Association for Gymnastics authorized the creation of the Performance and Championship badge. They were awarded in recognition of top sport performance and successful participation in sport events. There were three different classes available:
  1. Bronze - Badges with or without year date
  2. Silver - Badges with or without year date
  3. Gold - Badge with date
The bronze award is given for successfully completing competitions in one og the major sport events and can only be worn for the year shown. After the badge was received four times it is awarded without the year and

could be worn at any time. A cloth badge was also created. The design of the stickpin consisted of a wreath of laurel leaves. An eagle with squared wings is placed in the center. The head shows good definition and faces left. The plumeage is defined by lines. A swastika is placed in the mid body section. The tail protrudes to touch the wreath and splits the 1939 year.

This is a two piece construction stickpin where the wreath and the eagle are two separate pieces. The eagle is marked with the letters DRL. Additional markings include the words GES GESCH, indicating a trademark. The pin is attached directly to the main body.
