WWII GERMAN STICKPIN - RED CROSS HONOR STICK PIN

This is a German WWII stick pin. These items were issued to military, civilian and political individuals for various reasons. In the case of military personnel, a stickpin was given along with a full size award. The soldier could wear the stick pin instead of having to sport the full size badge.

The civilian and political stickpins were usually issued as an indication that the person had attended an event, or to indicate the affiliation to a particular group.

This stick pin was issued to a civilian organization.  This pin was produced from 1939 to the end of the war (1945). This award was given for meritorious service, or an act of valor or for work that was not quite sufficient to warrant the D.R.K. decoration.

The pin consists of a two piece construction. Smooth stick construction. Attached to the pin via the use of a circular metal device. The markings on the back of the badge indicate the name of the manufacturer.

Not very many of these awards were given.
