WWII German Stickpin - War Merit and Hindenberg Crosses -
This is a German WWII stick pin. These items were issued to military, civilian and political individuals for various reasons.
In the case of military personnel, a stickpin was given along with a full size award. The soldier could wear the stick pin
instead of having to sport the full size badge.
|
The design of the badge consists of
The War Merit Cross without Swords and the
Hindenburg Cross attached together. The war
merit cross was issued to civilian and military personnel for assisting with the war
effort in a non-combat fashion.
The Hindenburg Cross was instituted on July 13th 1934 by Generafeld Marschall
Von Hindenburg. Its correct name is
"The Honor Cross of the World War 1914-1918". It was issued to veterans of WWI.
This type of compounded stickpin is harder to find.
