WWII GERMAN LABOR UNION DAF FESTIVAL HAT
The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei),
abbreviated NSDAP, commonly known in English as the Nazi Party. Was a political party in
Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the
name was changed in 1920.
The party's last leader, Adolf Hitler, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president
Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. Hitler rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the
Third Reich.
After Hitler took control over Germany, the Nazi party declared all labor organizations
illegal and replaced them with a sole entity known as
DAF.
This is a German WWII hat. As issued to members of the DAF.
The design of the hat consists of a
dark blue wool
body construction. High peak style. With a har cord and black leather visor.
The mid section is beautifully adorned with a leafy pattern and what could be
corn nuts hanging from the branch.
The inside of the hat shows a large silver cog wheel stamped on a clear plastic
diamond shape piece sewn to the crown area. The letters DAF are written just
below.
This page is a recognition and identification guide for WWII German hats. Multiple
detailed photos of a specific sample are provided. Descriptions point out clearly defined points
that should be noted.
One of the most commonly asked questions is "How much is my WWII German hat worth?". A price

The emblem of the hat consists of an oval shape, hard plastic piece. The perimeter is
adorned with a gold rope-like structure. The inside is painted black. A DAF cog
wheel is displayed in gold color. A couple of laurels tied together are located
just below the wheel.
The hat chin strap is attached to the side of the hat via the use of a black metal
button which has a shiny finish.
The side of the hat has an
RZM paper tag glued to it.
This was placed there at the factory. In many samples the tag is missing due to normal
wear.
The tag is of white background. It reads DEUTSCHEARBEITSFRONT MURZE, which
translates to "German Work Front Murze". This is followed by tha DAF cog wheel logo.
The
RZM logo is also displayed
in a corner. The letters
NSDAP indicate affiliation to the Nazi
party. A serial number is stamped on the tag with black ink. Notice that the color of the
font between the stamp and the tag are different. A star pattern with rounded arms has
also been stamped next to the serial number.
