WWII German Labor Union Leader Hat -
The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei),
abbreviated NSDAP, commonly known in English as the Nazi Party. Was a political party in
Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the
name was changed in 1920.
The party's last leader, Adolf Hitler, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul
von Hindenburg in 1933. Hitler rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third
Reich.
After Hitler took control over Germany, the Nazi party declared all labor organizations
illegal and replaced them with a sole entity known as
DAF.
This is a German WWII hat. As issued to leaders of the labor union.
The design of the hay consists of a
black wool
body. The mid-section is also of black color and has a pattern of leaves on
a vine. The visor is made of black leather.
An eagle is placed at the front, high point of the hat. A metal cocckade is placed
just below. A silver cord is secured at each end of the hat via the use of metal
silver buttons. The cord indicates leader status.
The cockade is of very elegant design. Of aluminum construction. A labor cog wheel
is placed in the center. A swastika is inside the wheel. A half of wreath extends
to the left and right of the wheel. Both, the eagle and cockade are secured to the
hat via prongs.
This page is a recognition and identification guide for WWII German hats. Multiple
detailed photos of a specific sample are provided. Descriptions point out clearly defined points
that should be noted.
One of the most commonly asked questions is "How much is my WWII German hat worth?". A price
guide is included here to address this question. The value of the hats is reviewed
over a period of several years. A trend can be observed. The present worth of the German

The stamp shows an eagle with the wings fully spread. The following words are
written just below it: ADLERHORST, DEUTSCHE, WERTARBEIT, which translates to
"Eagle refuge, German, Value work".
The sweatband is made of khaki color leather. The inside of the leather visor is
black in color and smooth. It does not have the traditional checkered pattern.
