the
RAD was a paramilitary organization that was formed in the
early days of the reign of Hitler. By 1935 all males between the ages of 18 and 25 were obligated to serve a
six month term. The idea was that the training provided here would ease the individual into military service.
At the same time, the RAD worked on a series of civil projects that helped the towns in Germany.
The deign of the cap consisted of a "Robin Hood" type shape. Of
wool and cotton blend.
Brown in color with a white piping. The RAD logo was placed in the front.
The inside of the hat is lined in satin with the manufacturer's marking stamped in the crown
area.
