WWII GERMAN TROPICAL HAT SHIELDS
This is a set German WWII tropical hat/helmet shields. As issued to
Afrika Korps (DAK) troops. Where the
weather conditions are much hotter than other
theaters of combat. This demanded lighter type
uniforms and
equipment.
The design consists of two metal shields.
One of them displays the national colors. The other has an eagle. The wings are retracted. With very
nice plumeage. The head faces to the left. Standing over a swastika.
The back of the shiels have three prongs each. This is how the emblems are attached top the tropical
helmet.
This page is a recognition and identification guide for WWII German hats. Multiple
detailed photos of a specific sample are provided. Descriptions point out clearly defined points
that should be noted.
One of the most commonly asked questions is "How much is my WWII German hat worth?". A price
guide is included here to address this question. The value of the hats is reviewed
over a period of several years. A trend can be observed. The present worth of the German
headgear in the collector's market is illustrated.

This hat eagle is currently being reproduced.
It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because the quality
of the reproductions is improving. The collector must become familiarized with the construction style
and materials employed in the manufacturing of this hat. Attention to the details is critical in
