WWII GERMAN HITLER YOUTH TRADE LOCAL COMPETITION BADGE -
The German Labor Front wanted to encourage the youth to become proficient in a trade. In 1934 this group, in
collaboration with others, developed the a National Trade Competition. The competition was divided in 20
categories which represented over 700 trades. The person had to be under 21 in order to compete. The individual
would also have to be a member of one of the following organizations: HJ, DAF or another NSDAP organization.
The competition occurred in three different levels; Local (Krieg), State (Gau) and National (Reichs). The
example featured here is for the local level.
Of multi-piece construction. Outer wreath with white enameling in the center. The date 1939 and word "Kreissieger"
are found in this area. A metal eagle is placed in the center, it is clutching a gear with the Hitler Youth
diamond in enamel.
The back has a pin and is marked with the manufacturer's name and city of manufacturing.
