WWII German Gold Contribution Coin-
The German war effort was very expensive. At one point the government turn to the people and requested
contributions to collect gold as a means to finance the war. When a citizen stepped forward and donated
gold he or she was given the coin that is featured here as a token of appreciation.
The front of the coin featured a person down on one knee handing what appears to be a necklace. The year of
1916 is shown below the person. The words "In Eiserner Zeit" are placed above the person. This translates to
"In Iron Time".
The reverse of the coin has the following text: "Gold Gabichzur wehr eisen nahmichzur ehr".
