WWII German Stickpin - Veteran Association Eagle with Swords -

This is a German WWII stick pin. These items were issued to military, civilian and political individuals for various reasons. In the case of military personnel, a stickpin was given along with a full size award. The soldier could wear the stick pin instead of having to sport the full size badge.

Germany created veteran organizations to assist WWI soldiers with matters regarding housing, medical care and other causes. Like other organizations during the Third Reich, affiliation to the Nazi party was a good idea and often times mandatory.

The design of the stick pin consisted of an eagle with the wings fully extended. The head is facing to the left. A WWI Iron Cross is placed in the chest area.

The back of the stickpin was marked with GES GESCH to indicate it was trademarked. The pin attaches to a round metal section which in turn is secured to the main body.
