THE JAPANESE WWII FIELD EQUIPMENT

The Japanese armed forces did not have the best field equipment during WWII. Many of the equipment was made of leather and canvis. Some of the items ressembled the equipement that was used by the Samurai. This page is provides information about the Japanese WWII field equipemnt.

WWII JAPANESE EXPLOSIVES, WEAPONS, AMMUNITION AND RELATED ITEMS

WWII Japanese Type 97 granade. This was the standard fragmentation grenade of the Japanese armed forces during WWII.	WWII Japanese 6.5 mm x 50 mm bullets. Adopted by the Japanese Imperial Army in 1897. This was the round for the Arisaka rifle.	WWII Japanese Nambu Holster. Of dark brown leather construction. This is a clamshell holster used with the Nambu pistol. Contains pocket space for extra magazine.	WWII Japanese Nambu Holster. Of Khaki leather construction. Weather-proffed for use in jungle environment.

WWII Japanese Artillery Cannon. This is a Japanese artillery piece that has been de-activated by cutting a hole on the side of the breach. Wooden wheels with metal ring.	WWII Japanese Grenade. This is the Japanese standard grenade during WWII. Of cylindrical shape with multiple pieces that would fragment out when exploded.	WWII Japanese 75 mm Cannon. This is a Japanese artillery piece that has been de-activated by cutting a hole on the side of the breach. Wooden wheels with metal ring.	WWII Japanese 105 mm Cannon. This is a Japanese artillery piece that has been de-activated by cutting a hole on the side of the breach. Wooden wheels with metal ring.

WWII Japanese Army Type 89 Mortar Round. This is the round that was fired from the knee mortar. known as the type 89. Retains original striping.

WWII JAPANESE GAS MASKS

WWII Japanese Army gas mask. Complete with the carrying case. Rubber main body with four elastic straps. The canister is placed in the front beneath the nose.	WWII Japanese Civil Defense Gas Mask. This is the mask that was issued to civil defense forces in Japan during WWII. Rubber construction. Front filter.	WWII Japanese Army Gas Mask. This is the mask that was issued to members of the armed forces during WWII. Rubber body with a corrugated hose attached to the filter.

WWII JAPANESE MILITARY FIELD GEAR

WWII Japanese army officer's map case. All leather construction with a large flap. A single strap closes the flap in place.	WWII Japanese Army wrist compass. Issued to Army troops. With a leather wristband. Plastic lense cover. One side of the arm is red.	WWII Japanese military field lantern. Complete with a canvis carrying case. The lamp came with different color lenses. Gas powered.	WWII Japanese Navy Protractor. Complete with the wooden transit case. A large protractor used with naval navigation charts.

WWII Japanese Military field phone. Complete with a brown leather carrying case. Two straps close the main flap. The headphone is of aluminum construction.	WWII Japanese Army pay book. With a cloth cover and writing in front and back. A small flap groes through a loop to keep the book closed. Contains soldier's pay information.	WWII Japanese military pistol T-14 lanyard. The purpose of the lanyard is to keep the pistol close to the owner even if it is dropped. Of leather and rope construction.	WWII Japanese Leather equipment pouch. Manufactured of brown leather with a single strap to close the main flap.

WWII Japanese Office telephone. As used in formal headquarters. No dialer is present because the operator controls the phone calls. Heavy duty construction.	WWII Japanese Army canteen. Of metal construction. A canvis harness is used to carry the canteen. The cap is metal and has a leather strap which keeps it in place.	WWII Zero Aircraft Compass - This is a directional compass instrument fromt a Zero aircraft. Oil suspended graduated round section covered with a metal case.	WWII Japanese Army utility leather pouch. Of brown light canvis construction. One large flap closed the main compartment. Complete with a shoulder strap.

WWII Jaapanese soldier's pocket knife. Wooden handle riveted together. A metal loop on one end. A can opener is located on the side.	WWII Japanese Naval clock. Manufactured by the Seikosha company. Model 823. The face consists of a glass lense which opens by pressing a button.	Japanese Wooden Ammunition Box. Painted gray with characters written on the lid. The handle is composed of rope material. The inside has 6 holes that secure the warheads.	Japanese Field Dental Kit. Wooden case with multiple grooves which hold a variety of dental tools. This kit was issued to doctors in the field.

WWII Japanese Field Manual. This is a soldier's field manual. Complete with multiple fold-outs which cover Arisaka rifle parts and other information.
