1970's FRENCH ARMY BAYONET

The French army bayonet is of very sleek design. The handle is made of smooth black high impact plastic. It is secured by a pair of rivets which are located at opposite ends. The pommel and the base have a muzzle ring. The cross guard has a small extension.
The main body of the scabbard is of metal construction. very thin to tightly follow the shape of the blade. A leather extension is added to provide a means to attach the bayonet to a field belt. The upper section has an additional leather strap which buttons up to secure the handle of the bayonet.

The blade is of single edge construction. It is fairly thin. No bllod groove is found.

The edge weapons from many countries are currently being reproduced. It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because the quality of the reproductions are improving. The collector must become familiarized with the construction style and materials employed in the manufacturing of these medals. Attention to the details is critical in order to be able to determine the authenticity of the collectible.
