This is the New Zealand Service medal. Awarded to soldiers who participated in the campaigns in New Zealand during WWII. The front of the medal bears the profile of a person. The back reads "For service to New
Zealand 1939 - 1945". Two color ribbon (two black stripes on edge and one white thick stripe in middle).
British Commonwealth medals are currently being
reproduced.
It is becoming more difficult to be able to tell the fake ones from the real ones because
the quality of the reproductions is improving. The collector must become familiarized with
the construction style and materials employed in the manufacturing of these medals.
Attention to the details is critical in order to be able to determine the authenticity of
the collectible.
