This is a US army signal corps turn table. As issued during WWII. Heavy duty construction.
placed inside a wooden box.
The speed goes from 78 to 33 1/3.
A black tag is attached to the top of the box with information which reads:

Additional markings are found on the top. Executed in white paint. They read:

The inside of the lid contains spare fuses which are attached to a holding device.
The parts list is found inside the box along with the schematic diagram. A set of controls
which inclue MIC, PHONO and TONE are located in the front.
An additional Black metal tag is secured to the body, containing the following information:
Motor Lubrication Instructions
IMPORTANT: Turntable motor requires lubrication
once each month. (Normal 8 hour day operationa) Lubricate motor as follows
1. Remove modified "C" spring washer.
2. Lift turntable.
3. Apply 2 to 3 drops of oil (PL. Special) to the following points:
A. Hole to the right rear of the turntable shaft.
B. Ball sealed filler hole marked "oil"
in the right front of the turntable shaft.
C. Hole to the rear of speed control shaft.
At some point the turntable ended up assigned to the California department of health,
education & welfare. Who placed a property tag on the turntable.
This WWII US military collectible may be currently
reproduced.
