WWII US Army Air Corps Flight Suit AN 6550 -
A flight suit is a full body garment, worn while flying a powered aircraft such as military airplanes and helicopters. These suits are generally made to keep the wearer warm, as well as being practical, and
durable (including fire retardant). Its appearance is usually similar to a jumpsuit. A military flight
suit may also show rank insignia. It is sometimes used as a combat uniform in CQB or VBSS situations,
for its practicality.
This is a US Army Air Force AN 6550 flight suit. As used in the bombers and fighter aircraft during WWII.
Of cotton construction. A main zipper secures the suit closed. Two upper pockets are closed by the use
of green plastic buttons.
The suit came with a cloth belt made out of the same type of material as the suit itself. The buckle
of the belt was made from a hard plastic.
The suit came with two lightly stamped "Army Air Force" patches. One was located on the sleeve of the
uniform while the other one is found in the inside, mid torso area.
The following pictures show the flight suit tag. This tag is located in the left side brest
of the suit. Notice the loose weave construction employed on the back of the tag. The color scheme consists of
a black background with gold letters.

The inside collar has a loop which allows the suit to be hung from a hook. The same area also has a tag
with the size of the suit. This example is size 42.
