US Army Air Corps Flight Goggles - Type B8 -
This is a set of US Army Air Forces flight goggles. Known as the Type B-8. Complete
with the issue box and all accessories.
The frame was made of black rubber construction. The lenses were plastic. An
elastic band is provided to secure the goggles to the head. Manufactured by
the Polaroid company. The goggles were employed primarily by bombnig crews
when flying over Europe.
The goggles were issued in a brown cardboard box. The top of the box contains the following
information, stamped with black ink:

The instructions booklet had several illustrations to show how the goggles should
be employed. The title of the book read "Rochester Optical Aviation Kit".
This is a view of the multiple lenses that came as a kit. Each lense would be secured
into place by a snap to each side. The lenses came in cardboard inserts.
Different colors were provided so the user could obtain better visibility under varying light conditions.
