WWII US Army Walking Compass -
This is a small walking compass used by US Army troops during WWII. This was probably private purchase, since the markings do
not indicate military use. All metal construction in the shape of a safety pin. Which would allow the soldier to continue
walking while being able to keep an eye on the direction, hands-free.
Official military compasses
were distributed to soldiers in a leadership role. In some cases the compasses were the type
reissued from the previous war.
The face of the walking compass is very simple. It has a glass cover and a rotating surface that points North and indicates
all other directions.
