WWII German Driving Club Banner -
The Third Reich produced a series of
civilian organizations
that were affiliated to the Nazi party. With the propagation of mnotor vehicles
around the country came the existance of the driving clubs.
The banner featured here is a German WWII Driving Club car banner. Of
cotton construction .
The design consists of a triangular shape banner. White in color with a red cross outlined
in black. At the intersectin of the cross is found an oval shape, defined by two
black lines.
The center of the oval has an eagle with the wings retracted. The head faces to the right.
The beak is slightly opened. It is clutching a red circle with a swastika in the center.
The letters D.D.A.C. are written on the chest of the eagle.
Some of the other items belonging to auto clubs include
stickpins.
They were issued as a means to identify membership.
The perimeter of the banner is reinforced with extra stitching. This provides extra strength
to the material so it does not fray when in use. The larger end of the triangle has a sleeve
where the string is secured. A metal loop is found here.
