GERMAN WWII KRIEGSMARINE FLAG -
The Kriegsmarine
(War navy) was the name of the German Navy between 1935 and 1945, during the Nazi regime,
superseding the Reichsmarine, and the Kaiserliche Marine of World War I. The Kriegsmarine was one of three official
branches of the Wehrmacht.
This is German WWII Navy battle flag. Nicely marked with
black ink stamps
on the white clothing that reinforces
the flag. Complete with the rope used to secure it to a mast to fly it. Of heavy duty
cotton construction.
The design
consisted of a red background with a multi-line (black and white) cross placed on the entire lefgth of the flaf. The
center has a circle with a swastika. One corner displays the Maltese Cross in black.
The item featured here is in near mint condition. The design consisted of black and white stripes forming a cross
pattern meeting in the center of the flag, forming a circle with a swastika in the center. The Iron Cross is stamped
in one of the corners.
The markings on one side indicate the size of the flag. They read Kr.Fl. 80x133. The second
set of stamps indicate the manufacturer and town where the flag was produced, LORENZ
SUMMA SOHNE, OBERKOTZAU.
