WWII 1943 US Army Uniform -
In 1943 the Army implemented some changes to their traditional M1939 uniform. The
material
of the outfit was wool. It was complimented with brass
buttons
that were adorned with the image of the Army eagle in the front.

The design of the US WWII uniform consisted of four pockets, each having a flap secured shut
by a brass button. The shoulder area has epaulets. Sewn on one side and secured with a small button
on the other side.
The buttons
are sewn to the jacket. During WWI the buttons were secured to the uniforms via the use of a
ring. All the buttons for the WWII jacket are matching, however, the front buttons are of a
larger size than the others.
The uniforms were outfitted with a series of patches
and medals and insignia.
The jacket has the "technician/5th grade" patch
on the top section of the sleeve. Also notice how the shoulder strap is sewn to the uniform.

The left bottom photograph shows the stripe pattern employed to indicate continuous overseas service. Each
stripe signifies six months of service. below it is an enlistment stripe. One stripe
indicates one year of service. The patch on the right is an indication of meritorious service.
The Army jackets were outfitted with a tag
which contained various data regarding the manufacturer, date of production,
jacket pattern, etc. Tags could be located in various sections of the uniform. Among them are:
The inside of the bottom front pocket
The inside upper section of a sleeve and
The inner side of the jacket.
