WWII New Mexico Military Institute Officer Dress Jacket - The United States developed a series of military schools that employed the same style of uniforms as the regular forces. One example if the New Mexico Military Institute. The dress jacket they employed was made of Gabardine material. With a design identical to the one used by the US Army during World war Two.





This jacket was most likely used by one of the instructors. The collar insignia consists of two ROTC pins with two crossed sword pins. Two matching sets.





The American tunics were outfitted with a variety of patches to denote rank and unit affiliation. They were placed in the arms and breast area. The jacket featured here has the school patch (NMMI) on one arm. Just below that is a star. Then an ROTC patch.

in addition, uniforms were adorned with metal collar insignia for the purpose of indicating rank and the type of work performed by the soldier. The lapel contains two ROTC pins and two infantry crossed rifles pins.

The shoulder patches are of early wool construction. One shoulder has a black shield with red letter initials NMMI. The sleeve has a round black patch with a star in the center. Just below is the ROTC patch.
