WWII GERMAN COMBAT BADGES AND AWARDS STICKPINS
The Wehrmacht, literally, Defensive Might, or more accurately, Defense Forces, was the unified armed forces of
Germany from 1935 to 1945. It consisted of the Heer (army), the Kriegsmarine (navy) and the Luftwaffe (air force).
This organization authorized and issued combat badges designed to recognize the actions performed by certain
soldiers while in combat. When a badge was issued the soldier often times recieved a stickpin. This allowed
the person to show that he earned the award without having to wear the bigger and heavier full version.
