HISTORY OF THE 599TH BOMBARDMENT SQUADRON - 397TH BOMBARDMENT GROUP
This is a grouping of photos that chronicle the
return of what appears to be 2 different crews of B-26 Marauders who fought
against the Japanese during WWII. Both aircrafts saw a good deal
of action. The "Martin Star" was a magazine printed by the Martin company for the purpose to keep employees informed
and to keep the morale up.
The front cover of the publication is shown here. The artwork is typical of the graphics drawn durin the war.
The following photo shows the center section of the magazine. Multiple
published photos depicting the celebrations for the heroes.
The photos shown below are a set of the original photos that were used in the magazine. The size of the
photos is 8.5"x11". This picture shows the parade route surrounded by Martin employees. Notice the
amphibious aircraft sitting in the background and the camouflaged buildings where the aircraft are built.
This is the photo of a speech given by one of the company executives. Note the large "Martin" company logo sitting in
the background. This logo can be seen in many of the buttons wornby the
people participating in the celebration.
This is a photo of the crews of the aircraft. Notice the signature at the bottom of the photo "J L Martin". One of the
founders of the company. Every crew member is wearing the "Martin" star button.
