US ARMY AIR FORCE MARTIN MARAUDER HEROES


Two proud B-26 Marauders, decorated withe the silhouttes of 11 Japanese surface vessels on their noses, returned home on May 1943. These Marauders numbers 9 and 12, have been honorably discharged from active combat duty in the Aleutians, where they sank a light cruiser, two destroyers and two enemy transports. After two weeks of showing at the Martin plants in Baltimore and Omaha and the City Hall Plaza in Baltimore, they will return to service as Army trainers.

The photograph below shows one of the members of the crew of the Marauders. The photo was taken in 1943 at a Martin plant.
